Sigrid JusElius Foundation
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
grants for foreign scientists
According to the
rules of the Sigrid Jusélius Foundation, at least 3/4 of the
total funding shall be allocated to domestic
medical research. To enable established foreign medical researchers to work in a Finnish institution for 1-12 months the Foundation also
offers grants to nationals of
other countries.
It should, however, be noted that the Foundation does not award direct grants to foreign medical research. A foreign scientist interested in coming over to Finland has to get in touch with a Finnish scientist of his particular field, and the application should be made on the part of the Finnish host together with the proposed visiting researcher.
Resources are allocated to senior researchers. The funds are not available for studies or doctoral theses. The grants cover all disciplines of medical science. The grants can cover personal expenses (living costs), equipment, materials and consumables etc.
Closing dates for grant applications: around 15th April and 15th September. Next deadline: 12th April, 2006.
Applications procedure: an application form should be completed and signed by the Finnish host and the visiting researcher. Here are
instructions and
forms.
